This study looked at Community Health Workers in Kaduna State, Nigeria, and their knowledge and practices around antibiotic use and resistance. Most CHWs understood that inappropriate antibiotic use can lead to resistance, but only about one in five had received formal training on the issue. Many prescribed antibiotics based on their experience without diagnostic tests, and some were influenced by patient requests. The study found that training was linked to better knowledge and attitudes, highlighting the need for more training, better access to diagnostic tools, supervision, and clear treatment guidelines.
