This study explored how community health workers (CHWs) in the Philippines experienced an expanded community health program. Interviews with 64 CHWs showed they found the program more useful because it reached more people and offered basic treatments. However, the added responsibilities also required more time and effort, creating challenges. Clear communication, group training, and existing community trust helped make the program work. The findings highlight both the benefits and burdens of scaling up community health programs.
