Africa Community Health Programme | Continental Landscape Survey Report 2024/5

by

Authors: Africa CDC, UNICEF

Community health systems are important for improving health care access across Africa, especially for people in remote and underserved areas. Community health workers play a key role by providing essential services and responding to health emergencies. In 2024, Africa CDC and UNICEF carried out a continent-wide survey to understand the current state of community health systems, identify challenges, and highlight progress across African countries. The survey examined areas such as policy, funding, workforce, service delivery, supplies, health data systems, and community engagement. The results will help guide future actions, improve accountability, and support stronger health systems and progress toward universal health coverage.
