This study aimed to identify and assess factors for optimal CHW programmes in conflict settings, specifically Northwest Syria. The authors assert that, to be effective, CHW programs in conflict settings need to respond to contextual factors. They conclude that while the dynamics of humanitarian funding restrictions, health system capacity and governance structures present constraints, developing projects which use available resources is possible and can support CHWs to reach populations in conflict settings.
