A Library of Resources Dedicated to CHWs
Community Health Workers do so much for others. Now, there’s a space designed to support you.
The CHW Learning Hub was created by colleagues at El Sol to meet a vital need shared by CHWs around the world: a dedicated space for professional growth, peer support, and essential resources. CHWs play a crucial role in advancing health equity and addressing social determinants of health, yet often lack centralized access to training, tools, and connections with fellow CHWs.
This free, bilingual (English and Spanish) resource center offers culturally relevant materials in a variety of formats, including printable tip sheets and guides, interactive games and quizzes, and digital content like blogs and slideshows. It’s a place to build skills, share insights, and stay informed. Through certification programs, peer networks, and practical tools, we aim to support CHWs in strengthening their skills, serving their communities, and advocating with confidence.
Built by CHWs, for CHWs, the Learning Hub reflects real-life experiences and is designed to strengthen community health at every level.
What is Community Outreach?
Community outreach is focused on connecting with people where they live, work, and gather. It’s an activity or initiative led by organizations, agencies, and groups working to improve community health and well-being.
These efforts are carried out by dedicated teams like Community Health Workers, health navigators, community organizers, or outreach specialists, who meet people in places like neighborhoods, parks, churches, or other community hubs.
CHW Mental Health: An Interactive Simulation
Developed in collaboration with CHWs and a psychologist, this game simulates real-world challenges that can impact mental health. It’s designed to raise awareness, support emotional reflection, and promote healthy coping strategies.
In this game, you’ll take on the role of a CHW navigating everyday challenges. Choose your character and explore three unique levels: home, neighborhood, and community center. Your choices will affect your wellness score, but you can boost your well-being by using the coping skills you gather throughout the game.
Cultivating Interpersonal Awareness for Community Wellness
Interpersonal awareness is the ability to truly understand both yourself and others by recognizing your own thoughts and emotions while also tuning in to the feelings and experiences of those around you. It is a cornerstone of social and emotional learning and plays a key role in building trust, fostering relationships, and effectively communicating with people in different situations. As a Community Health Worker, interpersonal awareness is essential because trust is the foundation of all their work.
