Engaging Community Health Workers/Youth Ambassadors to Improve Health Literacy

by

Authors: M. Kelly McHugh, Neha Dixit, Joe Alper

A workshop held on April 20, 2023, during National Minority Health Month explored the role of community health workers and youth ambassadors in promoting health literacy. Grantees from different health programs shared lessons on implementing health literacy approaches during public health emergencies. The workshop highlighted the excessive impact of public health emergencies on racial and ethnic minority populations due to challenges in effective communication of health information. Improving health literacy was emphasized as crucial for better responses to public health strategies.
