Global symposia on Community Health Workers – growing from strength to strength

The 2nd International Symposium on Community Health workers brought together over 500 participants from 35 countries to explore the theme: ‘Potentials of CHWs in the prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the context of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).’ The symposium took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh from the 22nd to 24th November, 2019 and was hosted by icddr, b.

With the 5th Health Systems Research Symposium taking place in Liverpool from October 8 – 12, 2018, we once again remember Kazakhstan. 2018 celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Declaration of Alma-Ata. The Alma-Ata declaration was signed in September 1978 during the International Conference for Primary Health Care. Its main aim was and is to call all world governments, health workers and development experts to promote and protect health for all.
